Bumblee 3.0 not working on Kubuntu 12.04

Hello,

I have a Sony Vaio S series laptop. Following some of the steps on the
Reporting Issues wiki page:
baseboard-manufacturer: Sony Corporation
baseboard-product-name: VAIO
baseboard-version : N/A
system-manufacturer : Sony Corporation
system-product-name : SVS13A190X
system-version : C60AL06C
bios-vendor : Insyde Corp.
bios-version : R0142C5
bios-release-date : 05/17/2012

Detailed logs are attached in the tar.gz file. I have the Nvidia 640GT-M
graphics card with 1GB DDR3 RAM.

Some lines from the dmesg which I think are relevant:
[ 227.644385] NVRM: GPU at 0000:01:00.0 has fallen off the bus.
[ 227.644430] NVRM: GPU at 0000:01:00.0 has fallen off the bus.

I am not able to use optirun because of this error. dmesg shows that the
kernel module has properly loaded, but something is not right after that. A
quick google search showed that it requires "Persistence mode" enabled, but
I wonder if that's still relevant [the search results are quite old].

Thank you, and I appreciate any help on this.
Regards,
Rohan
