Over the weekend, I extended Explorer so that Tools> Advanced Commands launches a terminal in the root directory of the current location. It seems to work OK on GNOME and KDE. I couldn't get it going to the right place on OS X (10.4) though and I'm yet to test it on Windows. Can a few people try this on various Windows and OS X versions please and raise bugs (or send patches!) if it fails?
It doesn't do the right thing on OS X as the argument to the open command is meant to be an executable script and "." is not. Currently, it just errors out and leaves a non-useful terminal window open. I've submitted a halfway fix at lp:~nmb/bzr-explorer/open-mac-terminal which opens a terminal, but not in the current directory.
