Sorry for inconvenience! But this is not a generic issue and we have put
the selection widget for user friendly purpose. The alternate solution
suggested by you is a very good idea and we will consider it as a new
features for future roadmaps.

please change widget back to normal m2o 
every (entitled) user must be able to enter new titles / legal forms of corporations without navigation to Sales/Config/addressbook/....
may be the current solution works well in English speeking countries, not so in Austria (and ....) where (various) titles are part of the name and widely used. It is considered impolite not to use correct titles.

alternate solution
* allow to open the resource with right mouse click on selection widget.
