As far as X2M fields are concerned there are 2 points one needs to take care of:
1. Parent record is saved(Only if you use web client). If you use GTK, its not an issue.
2. Before saving the parent record, one needs to be sure that one has entered all the mandatory values and X2M is ready-to-be-saved.

In your case, I guess you missed out field(s) of X2Many field and that field is mandatory.

Bug description:
When trying to add an element to a *2many related-field, and saving the object, the operation only works when the *2many-field was not empty (before attempting the operation).
