Hello Gregg,

Here you are talking about the /doc/openerp-server.conf file which is
just documented file.

If you want to use this as your customized configuration, It will not
take the parameters from it as it is just documentation file.

If you are interested in making your own customized configuration at
each server startup then please follow the point (2) of comment #2. I
have also attached the configuration file for your reference as an
example. Hope it will help you and I am closing this bug.

Title:
  db_user and db_password not read

Status in OpenObject Server:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  When running the command python openerp-server.py, the values for db_user and db_password in the conf file are not used. The server starts without issues only if the --db_user and --db_password arguments are used on the command line.

This is on a Ubuntu 10.04 server using version 6 RC2 that was downloaded 1/9/2011
