[Bug 708126] Re: No way to search for products based on variant name

Amit,

Firstly, if you do believe that this is a feature request rather than an
actual bug (which I will dispute shortly), then it should be a Confirmed
bug of Wishlist importance[0].

Secondly, I believe this is a major flaw in the product_variant_multi
workflow (and it would seem that Sébastien and his firm agree, as they
have worked on an improved version). If I have one product in 4
different colours and 30 different sizes (e.g. bras), then the user has
to manually sift through 120 different entries to find exactly the one
that they want. It is essentially impossible to compare, for example,
all of the products of the same size in different colours (as they
aren't necessarily even sorted together). This should be remedied.

Title:
No way to search for products based on variant name

Status in OpenERP Modules (addons):
  New

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:
   1) Set up a database with product_variant_multi (this may still be an issue without it; I haven't checked).
   2) Set up some products with variants.
   3) Navigate to the Products list view.
   4) Attempt to search for a specific variant.

This isn't possible. You can work around this by setting up a filter
every time you want to search for a variant, but this is time
consuming. There should simply be a Variants search field.
