Public bug reported:

I have detected that a constraint like 'not null' for a field is not shown when triggered.
In GTK client an error dialog tells  about the problem (Value null for column xx violates ...)

This is not a commonly situation since when the field is present in the
view, you are advised with the field in red. However, sometimes you can
forget to put the field (or make it invisible) causing ah hidden error.
