OK, I ran cairo-dock -l debug

I reproduced the bug and I think I may have caught it, red handed (or
hope I did). When I look at the error message, though, I think it might
not be a Cairo bug so much as a bug in the x windows manager -- but what
do I know...

  Show Desktop requires double-click when "Appear on Click" is
  activated.

Bug description:
  This is a minor quibble.

  When "Appear on Click" is chosen, the "Show Desktop" icon (unlike the
  launchers) no longer responds to a single click, but behaves like the
  sub-menus, requiring two clicks.
