Can you give us more details about these "drawers app". Which packages
did you install and how?

About the crash, do you have this crash with the development version? =>

If yes, is it possible to have a backtrace of this crash with GDB? Simply add our ppa, install a few packages and launch GDB => http://wiki.glx-dock.org/?p=ddd
This is really useful to fix this crash ;)

Then can you try if it's better if you disable the Folder applet? You can open the configuration panel with this command:
   $ cairo-dock -m
