[Bug 1248550] Re: display not refreshing after moving/closing/opening windows
thanks for response. Didn't change the dock settings as I was happy
with interface long ago. Just tried to modify "how to draw minimized
windows" as suggested. Changed from "Show a windows thumbnail" to the
other two settings and neither modified the behavior.
I did turn windows decoration on/off under compiz and still the problem
persists.
I updated to Cairo Dock 3.3.2 in my update on 10/21, not too long before
the update on 11/2 that started causing the symptoms. At first I didn't
think it was related to Cairo-dock due to it not being on the list of
11/2/13 updates. But after I started using Gnome Classic the symptoms
disappeared. Due to this, I believe it is somehow an interaction
between recent Cairo-dock update and the list of updates I showed
before. I will play around with compiz further to see if I can find a
setting that modifies screen refresh.
Here is the list of updates from 10/21:

Title:
display not refreshing after moving/closing/opening windows
Status in Cairo-Dock : Core:
New
Bug description:
Current version: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Cairo Dock 3.3.2
Hardware:
IBM 9228 Workstation
Processor : 4x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5150 @ 2.66GHz
Memory : 4120MB (1167MB used)
Operating System : Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS
Resolution : 1920x1200 pixels
OpenGL Renderer : Gallium 0.4 on NV49
X11 Vendor : The X.Org Foundation
NVIDIA Corporation G71GL [Quadro FX 3500] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA
controller])
After recent update through ubuntu software manager, cairo dock does
not refresh the display properly when moving windows around. Jagged
edges, ghost images of windows as they are moved, etc. When I move
along the app launcher, the pop ups all overwrite each other creating
quite a visual mess. Gnome classic interface works just fine.
Problem occurs at all times when using Cairo Dock. Happens under all
themes I have tried.
Problem happened after my 11/2 update. Here are the apt-get details
of that update:

While in Gnome classis and I run the command below from terminal (cairo-dock -l debug > debug.txt), I get this result:

The launcher appears at the bottom with display refresh problems I
have noted above.
I also noticed a similar issue was reported as a question on askubuntu:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/367314/ubuntu-12-04-update-problem-screen-blank-no-wallpaper-and-no-refresh
This askubuntu issue may or may not be related but thought I would
include this.
