[Bug 1310601] [NEW] Effects and labels broken

Public bug reported:

I've already reported this in the Cairo dock forums, but until now (one week later), I got no reply, so I thought I'd report it here as well.
http://www.glx-dock.org/bg_topic.php?t=7664

I'm using Kubuntu Trusty Tahr x64 with the latest updates and the Cairo Dock Weekly repository on Launchpad.
Until recently, I've been using the following version without any problems:

3.3.99.beta1.1~20140304~bzr1729-0ubuntu1~ppa0~trusty

I then got an upgrade to the following version:

3.3.99.beta1.2.really.3.3.2-0ubuntu2

This changed the following things:

- Effects are broken and don't work at all anymore. This affects either, mouse-over and mouse-click effects. I've got no effects at all, but they're checked in the settings. Effects worked fine before the upgrade.
- I don't have gradients or colours on the labels anymore, neither on the text nor on the background. All labels are now white text on grey transparent background.
- I have the dock on the left screen border, and labels are now vertical. Before the upgrade, labels were horizontal.

I now went back to 3.3.99 beta 1.1 again. To do this, I first had to
remove any Cairo dock packages:

sudo apt-get remove cairo-dock* libgldi3

Then I installed the previous packages again:

3.3.99.beta1.1~20140304~bzr1729-0ubuntu1~ppa0~trusty

For this, I needed to do a "Force version" for every package so it doesn't pick the broken version instead.
After doing that and logging out and back in, effects (mouse-over and mouse-click effects) are working fine again.
Labels are horizontal again, but I had to redo their colour settings.
I've locked the version now so the packages don't get overwritten by the broken version.

You really should put up a warning to alert people not to upgrade to the broken version (3.3.99.beta1.2.really.3.3.2-0ubuntu2).
Or better, get beta 1.3 out quick so people who already upgraded to the broken version can fix this easily.
