[Bug 892836] Re: In GNOME skype icon missing in notfication area/main panel
It looks this problem is specific to 64 bit. I had to install skype:i386 because of libXss.so.1 issue with skype. Till now my skype was running without any problem on 64 bit ( excluding the problem reported in this bug id). But after upgrading to 12.04 libXss.so.1 problem started. I explored launchpad and found a workaround for libXss.so.1 problem
which was:
sudo dpkg --purge skype
sudo apt-get install skype:i386
After installing i386 version, I can see notification icon even after
closing the skype window.
