Message #03309
[Bug 1235916] [NEW] desktop entry is missing %F argument in exec string
Public bug reported:
I'm using Ubuntu 13.04.
Package-version: 9.5.5-1raring1
In the acroread-bin package from the canonical partner repository, the
desktop entry file for Adobe Reader 9
(/usr/share/applications/acroread.desktop) is missing the %F argument in
the exec string. Because of this, it isn't possible to directly open
files through the file manager with this, it's only possible to start
the application without directly opening a file.
Expected to happen: Option to open PDF files with Acrobat Reader 9 in
"Open With..." menu of a Files context menu, or in the "Open with" tab
of a PDF files' properties window.
Actually happened: No such option present.
Suggest fix: add the %F argument to the exec string
Workaround: Copy the file entry into the user's home directory (to
/home/$USER/.local/share/applications/acroread.desktop) and add the %F
argument to the exec string in that copy
** Affects: acroread (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
