Yes - would be glad to help out (and go to the mentor summit if 
possible) but would like to have a "backup mentor" in case I get too 
busy (work, family, etc.).

Are there any specific project ideas already?

May I suggest one "project" - a continuation of what I started last 
year: Create CoApp-packages of the libSDL set of libraries (SDL, 
SDL_image, SDL_mixer, SDL_net, SDL_ttf, SDL_gfx) with the ultimate goal 
to get some libSDL based games (i.e. BZFlag, Frozen Bubble) or a game 
engine (i.e. ScummVM) into the repository.
