svanechel, a quick and easy way to get back to default settings is to
rename the .gnome/, .gnome2/, .gconf/ and .gconfd/ directories into
something else, and then log back into Gnome.  Gnome will re-generate
those files for you if they are missing, and you can get back your
original configuration just by renaming your backup directories back to
their original names.
