I've already switched to Karmic and that problem no longer exists. It
seems as though the Intel / Compiz issue seems resolved as far as I can
see. I'm going to switch to Lucid, however as the USB transfer issue has
been unresolved since Jaunty.

I have similiar problem
dist: karmic
pkg: latest intel
device: Intel GMA X4500MHD (I'm not sure with MHD :-D)

only if I change lower res to upper (e.g. 800x600 to 1680x1050)

KMS enabled

-- system architecture : x86_64
-- xf86-video-intel : 2:2.5.1-1ubuntu7
-- xserver : Xorg 1.5.99.3
-- kernel :2.6.28-4-generic
-- Linux distribution :ubuntu-Jaunty-9.04-amd64(alpha3)
-- Machine or mobo model :Intel Desktop-McCreacy
-- Display connector :VGA


Steps to reproduce:

1:OS boot with Compiz launthing :System-->Perferences-->Appearance--->Visual Effects-->Normal(default).
2:set lower  resolution "800*600" by GUI mode---"gnome-display-properity".
3:set higher resolution "1152*864" by GUI mode---"gnome-display-properity".
4:repeat step2,step3 3 times.
5:It would induce three quarters screen disorder.
