[Bug 588151] Re: Compiz settings gets reset with every restart
This can happen for a few different reasons I can think of.
1) permissions issue
2) something interfering in startup programs
3) upgrade from 9.10 may have broke it
For 1), make sure your regular user owns everything in ~/.gonf* then set appearance radio button to None then back again
For 2), check your startup programs
For 3), (which btw I think is the most probable even if you didn't upgrade:)
Login
Start compiz
Close all other open windows
Navigate to System>Preferences>Startup Applications> Options tab and click Remember Currently Running Application
Relogin; test
