Binary package hint: compiz

I have this problem on Ubuntu 10.04 - Lucid Lynx.  I am using compiz
(version 1:0.8.4-0ubuntu15) and have focus set to follow mouse
(System=>Preferences=>Windows and tick "Select windows when the mouse
moves over them").

To reproduce, bring up the keyboard shortcut editor using
"System=>Preferences=>Keyboard Shortcuts". Scroll down to the Window
Management section and select "Raise window if it's covered by another
window, otherwise lower it".  Bind to some unused key like F4.  After
this I find that pressing F4 has no effect on windows - they are neither
raised nor lowered.  I would expect them to be lowered if they were
already on top, otherwise I would expect them to be raised.

If I bind F4 to just "Raise Window" or "Lower Window" then F4 works
fine.  If I change window manager (System=>Preferences=>Appearance and
select None on the Visual Effects tab) to metacity then the "raise if
obscured, otherwise lower" functionality works as expected.

Changing back to compiz (by setting Visual Effects to Normal or Extra)
breaks it again.
