3.  Pressing the Printscreen key or using the Ubuntu->Accessories->Take
Screenshot utility should capture the current screen / save to file.

4. When Compiz effects are enabled, the output from pressing the
Printscreen key or using the Ubuntu->Accessories->Take Screenshot
utility is an image of either (a) the desktop background with the arrow
cursor and no other windows or menu bars, or (b) a black screen with the
arrow cursor on it and no other windows or menu bars.    Screen capture
functions work normally when compiz effects are disabled.
