[Bug 671504] [NEW] compiz crashes - illegal instruction

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Using: Ubuntu 10.10 maverick

Compiz crashes on startup. If used with indirect rendering it crashes
the whole x-server.

compiz --debug yields:

compiz (core) - Debug: Could not stat() file /home/evilphish/.compiz/plugins/libcore.so : No such file or directory
compiz (core) - Debug: Could not stat() file /usr/lib/compiz/libcore.so : No such file or directory
compiz (core) - Debug: Could not stat() file /home/evilphish/.compiz/plugins/libccp.so : No such file or directory
compiz (core) - Debug: Could not stat() file /home/evilphish/.compiz/plugins/libmove.so : No such file or directory
compiz (core) - Debug: Could not stat() file /home/evilphish/.compiz/plugins/libresize.so : No such file or directory
compiz (core) - Debug: Could not stat() file /home/evilphish/.compiz/plugins/libplace.so : No such file or directory
compiz (core) - Debug: Could not stat() file /home/evilphish/.compiz/plugins/libdecoration.so : No such file or directory
Illegal instruction

So far the following solutions have been tried:
- purge and reinstall every package that has "compiz" in it's name
- install compiz packages from lucid
- move compiz userconfig out of the way
- create a new, blank user to be sure that no config whatsoever interferes

If you need more info, shout :)
