just had a bucketload of updates, apparently including a fix for compiz:

yougo@yougo-VirtualBox:~$ compiz --replace

compiz (opengl) - Fatal: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing

it plays nice with Opengl now. guess it's up to Oracle to come up with a
VBoxGuestAdittions patch...
