[Bug 723475] [NEW] Compiz crashes with Segfault in Unity. Does not forward to gnome
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: compiz
When starting Unity, it fails (I do not know why), and does not forward to the old default GNOME desktop properly. It does not show any panels, and when I right click on my desktop, it will briefly will show two panels after which they disappear again.
Compiz errors occured in dmesg right away:
[ 79.633550] compiz[1262]: segfault at 0 ip (null) sp bf91862c error 4 in libICE.so.6.3.0[110000+14000]
[ 139.250673] compiz[1512]: segfault at 0 ip (null) sp bfa7adcc error 4 in libXrandr.so.2.2.0[110000+6000]
[ 165.734301] compiz[1584]: segfault at 0 ip (null) sp bfe13cac error 4 in libgcc_s.so.1[110000+1a000]
It is not possible to launch an application when this situation occurs,
so I cannot create a screenshot.
Starting the old, normal GNOME desktop from the GDM login screen works
just fine.
