It seems that is related to the extra grab handles at the windows' lower
right corner, as I can only make it happen when scaling windows at these
handles.

Notice that when you click on these handles somewhere INSIDE the window
and release the mouse button again, without having moved the mouse, the
window will be resized by a few pixels anyway in most of the cases. So
perhaps the size jumping up as extremely as in the screen-shots, is just
an extreme case of this wrong behavior.
