[Bug 756560] [NEW] Screen redraw issues when using Anki
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: compiz
I'm running a fresh install of Ubuntu Natty (beta) wtih all the latest
packages and have encountered problems whilst trying to use "Anki", a
popular language-learning tool in Ubuntu.
When I am using the software, there are regular instances when the
screen does not redraw and I have to click and drag the mouse over text
within the application in order for it to update. Likewise, sometimes
buttons overlap each other - whereas the first set would normally
disappear before being replaced by another set (see screenshot). This
makes Anki virtually unusable - which is worrying considering the
application's popularity. This was never an issue when I was running the
same version of Anki on Ubuntu 10.10 on the same machine - so something
must have changed in the Ubuntu packages that is affecting this.
I filed a bug report
(http://code.google.com/p/anki/issues/detail?id=1129) with the Anki
developers but they have assured me that this is an issue with either
Compiz or QT and that there is nothing they can do to fix it - hence I
am reporting the issue here. I am using Anki version 1.2.8, available
from the official website in deb form.
Interestingly, I am also experiencing another bug
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/755882) which is
also related with screen redraws by the looks of things - I feel the two
problems may well be related.
Please let me know if I can provide any additional information so that
this problem may be promptly resolved.
