[Bug 806980] [NEW] Compiz should handle "inappropriate" images as skydomes better

Public bug reported:

According to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=961181, if an
"inappropriate" image (that is, an image whose width or height exceeds
the maximum texture size of the graphics card or an image with a width
that is not twice as big as the height) is passed as a skydome to
Compiz, the cube background turns to white. This puzzles a new user, who
cannot instantaneously figure out what is wrong with the image.
