[Bug 875338] [NEW] Wallpapers plugin does not work with Unity (regression in 11.10)

Public bug reported:

It seems the Wallpapers plugin, which I use to have different wallpapers
for different workspaces, no longer works with Unity. It works fine if
Unity is disabled. Note that apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop
is disabled in gconf2, so Nautilus isn't managing the wallpaper. Is
there anything else that could be managing it? Otherwise this seems a
compiz/unity bug.
