Public bug reported:

I left a computer on for a night. In the morning I couldn't log in
normally. I could open a virtual console (Ctrl+Alt+F1) and slowly type
in commands. The system was mostly idle but compiz had expanded to take
over 3GB of my 4GB, causing swapping.

I used ubuntu-bug to save a problem report file, but I'm not sure where
to find it or how to attach it here.
