[Bug 1293081] [NEW] black screen or frozen screen after a change in multihead configuration

Public bug reported:

When changing the multihead configuration, typically when plugging in or
unplugging an external monitor with a non-mirrored configuration, the
screen freezes and I have to kill compiz to get the screen to display
properly again. Compiz itself is not frozen, because compiz hotkeys seem
to work even while the screen is frozen.
