[Bug 2111805] Re: Simple Scan - Failure to scan (no scanners detected)

Update: My sincerest apologies.

It turns out the good old "restart the affected machine "still works...

I just gave the old gal a power cycle (switched off mains power from
rear power switch), and she is scanning fine.

Please close this bug-report as self-solved. :)

Title:
Simple Scan - Failure to scan (no scanners detected)

Status in simple-scan package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Affected scanner: HP LaserJet 3030 (MFP, connected via rear USB-B 2.0).
  Simple Scan version: simple-scan, v:46.0-0ubuntu2

  My Hardware:
Machine: HP Elitebook Folio 9470m (connected to printer via USB-A 3.0, on left side of laptop).
  Ubuntu version: 24.04.2 LTS
USB output: Bus 003 Device 018: ID 03f0:1817 HP, Inc LaserJet 3030

  Hi peeps,

Issue summary: Unable to utilise previously-detected USB-connected
  printer for scanning in simple-scan.

Expected Result: See preview of live-feed of scanner output from HP
MFP scanner in simple-scan to be saved as a *.PDF document.

History/What happened: I was previously scanning several pages of a document at 600dpi (about 4 out of 7 pages) and was able to export the image results to be combined as a *.PDF file.

I closed the simple-scan application, and pivoted to my file explorer
to view the results of the PDF file in Document Viewer (evince).

I re-ran Simple Scan to scan some more documents, however, I was
unable to continue as I received a dialog box stating, "Failed to scan
(bold) Unable to connect to scanner".

Obviously, I was confused as CUPS, HP Toolbox (hp-lip and its various
packages) and my USB output all detected the printer. I have attempted
to purge and reinstall simple-scan but no effect.

I would also like to report that 'xsane' is also not working (xsane,
v:0.999-12ubuntu4), and that there is currently no available package
  for libsane for Noble Numbat.
