Title:
Screen Recording fails on AMD Ryzen AI 300 (RDNA 3.5) with PipeWire
'broken pipe' error
Status in pipewire package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
In the description, explain everything you've found. Use this
template:
I am using a new laptop with an AMD Ryzen AI 300 series CPU and
integrated Radeon graphics on Ubuntu 24.04 with Wayland.
All attempts to record a specific window fail, for both the built-in
GNOME recorder and Flatpak apps like Kooha. The system defaults to
full-screen recording.
We have tracked the issue to a chain of failures:
- The pipewire.service log shows error -32 (broken pipe) and mod.client-node: error seq:21 -32 when a window recording is attempted.
- This causes xdg-desktop-portal-gnome.service to fail with the error: Failed to associate portal window with parent window ''.
This appears to be a bug in the graphics/multimedia stack for new AMD
RDNA 3.5 hardware.
