[Bug 2056526] Re: Plymouth's hidden console contains squares instead of bold text

Technically the decision to use bold text comes from outside of Plymouth
in the code that's controlling the virtual terminal and adding colour to
it. Plymouth is just acting as a renderer for the kernel's virtual
terminal. Plymouth is not choosing what style of text gets used, only
the Truetype font itself.

Title:
Plymouth's hidden console contains squares instead of bold text

Status in plymouth package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
Plymouth's hidden console contains squares instead of bold text on
  live session shutdown.

You can see it by pressing Escape instead of Enter.

It seems somewhat related to the fix for bug 1942987, which only
preloads non-bold text for the live session shutdown splash.
