Title:
Evince doesn't print some pdf if page size are too bigger
Status in “evince” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: evince
I have downloaded a pdf but when I try to print it with evince, after a while appear an error dialog reporting "Errore di stampa" Si è verificato un problema nell'elaborare il documento <<nomedocumento.pdf>>, document was not printed and furthermore my printer give me a blank sheet with just some other error informations:
Error: /rangecheck in --.execform1-- Operand stack: --dict: 7/16 (L) -- 1 11
PDF information extracted with pdfinfo are:
Creator: Adobe InDesign CS4 (6.0.4)
Producer: Adobe PDF Library 9.0
CreationDate: Thu Jun 17 15:14:35 2010
ModDate: Thu Jun 17 15:14:39 2010
Tagged: no
Pages: 1
Encrypted: no
Page size: 850.394 x 1190.55 pts
File size: 342137 bytes
Optimized: yes
PDF version: 1.6
So I have supposed that probably is a problem of page size.
Firstly I have installed also Acrobat Reader, opened the same pdf file and tried to print, and all is ok.
Next, I have re opened the same file with evince: also the print preview confirm my hypothesis because not all the pdf area of the page are displayed correctly but only a part of it (cutting some text on left and right side).
So I have searched if evince give me the possibility to scale it and after a while I find on "Gestione pagina" (probably page management) the select box near label "Scala pagina" (probably page scaling). Setting it to "Adatta all'area stampabile" (probably adapt it to print area) and next printing the pdf work ok and print a pdf similarly to the pdf printed with acrobat reader.
So I think that the right behaviour of evince in this cases would be
to adapt the page automatically if page size are too bigger.
Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.4, evince 2.30.3
