  not powering down monitors

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

  Since upgrading to 10.10 (but I saw this in previous releases) gnome-
  power-manger is not powering down my monitors.  This happens
  consistently, every time.

  Similar bugs are 473705 and 550054, but since there appears to be no
  effort whatsoever to debug this issue (just a bunch of "me too"s from
  other sufferers) from the ubuntu folks i thought I would shine a new
  light on it.
