  gnome-panel in Karmic comsumes constant 15% CPU, show

Status in “gnome-panel” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  The gnome-panel in Karmic consumes a constant 15% CPU. Other problem
  include:

    a) The panel at the bottom shows a bunch icons for things which aren't there.
    b) The number and configuration of the icons in the panel is constantly changing.
    c) Due to a) and b) the harddrive light is constantly flickering.
