Title:
Graphics (X) won't start on ATI X1250-based motherboard

Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I downloaded the daily Oneiric snapshot CD on 2011-08-28. I booted
from it but the booting ended with a black screen. However, I was able
to get keyboard access by Ctrl-Alt-F2 (typing Ctrl-Alt-F7 would turned
the screen black again). In the console (or whatever the exact term)
I tried to start Brasero but it printed an error message about not
being able to start graphics. Then I rebooted.

System info: Asus M2A-VM motherboard with integrated ATI Radeon
X1250-based graphics. Northbridge: AMD 690G, Southbridge: ATI SB600.
