Message #102203
[Bug 1424404] [NEW] 14.04 won't boot after installing Nvidia 173 package
Public bug reported:
I never thought I said this but I'm really glad to have windows installed on my PC!! It saved my butt after upgrading the Nvidia package form version 30 to 173 on Ubuntu 14.04. I've got a GrForce GT 610 installed.
Installation warned that package Nvidia 30 and some other would be removed. Perssing OK hs been the worst decission in my life the last 10 minutes.
Ubuntu doesn't boot anymore, not even in recovery mode of the latest
release (.45) nor of a previous release (.39) which I keep just in
case... Just in this case, to no purpose.
Fortunately, I can start up on Windows and data files are shared. SO,
thanks Bill Gates, but now I need some back up O.S. for when Windows
will screw it sooner or later.
Does anybody know what can I do to get my Ubuntu back to live with no
new-from-scratch installation?
Thanks guys
