Re: [Bug 1325961] Re: starting "videos" application blanks screen
Chris,
a friend of mine altered the settings on my monitor - which is now OK.
Presumably, some kind of strange video setting was enabled, which my
screen couldn't cope with. Possibly he just turned on "Auto" on the
screen. So it could have been that video signals were (sometimes)
incompatible with monitor settings.
In short - all fixed as far as I'm concerned.
Stephen.

Title:
starting "videos" application blanks screen
Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Opening a video (any sort eg .wmv, .mov) with the "videos" app causes
the audio stream to play but the screen goes blank. Space stop-starts
as normal. on pressing Alt-f4 the app quits and the screen display
returns.
Starting up the "videos" app from Launcher blanks screen until alt-f4
is pressed
[App "Cheese" also blanks the screen, but I don't think alt-f4 works,
just crashes. I will report separately]
Sorry can't be more specific about package-names etc - the screen is
blank!
