[Bug 1427795] [NEW] the lock screen/log out window is stuck rendering desktop unusable

Public bug reported:

After locking the screen via ctrl-alt-del, upon unlocking it, the "Hi
$user, you have open files that you might want to save before logging
out" is stuck in the middle of the screen. It will not close or allow
typing in any window. The only way out is to kill the X server or reboot
the machine losing all open work.
