[Bug 1427822] [NEW] Bad performance with copy large nr of files

Public bug reported:

When copying files with cp, I was able to get an average transfer rate
of 30MB/s with about 300 000 files.

With Nautilus the transfer rate looked close to 10MB/s, and kept
dropping the longer the transfer took.
