Re: [Bug 1268257] Re: nvidia-331-updates 331.38-0ubuntu3: nvidia-331-updates kernel module failed to build, with only error: "objdump: '... .tmp_nv.o': No such file"

 

This was Ubuntu, and the Nvidia card I have is antique, GT7300, which is 
why 304 and not 331, and it worked until a recent upgrade from 14.04 to 14.10, 
after which the shipped drivers did not work, and the ones from the Nvidia 
website wouldn't build, complained about a missing header file, until I grabbed 
a 3.18.9 kernel from kernel.org and built per someone else's recommendations.
This is on an old MacPro 1,1.  This shipped drivers just wouldn't load.
