[Bug 1441757] [NEW] Scanner doesn't work with Samsung SCX-34xx multi-function

Public bug reported:

Hello,

I used to use the Samsung unified driver and that was the only way to make my Samsung SCX-3405 multi-function device work.
Recently with Ubuntu 15.04 I found that SimpleScan displays 2 scanners with similar name to choose and one of them doesn't work.
I found that the device is mentioned twice in /etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf and /etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp-smfp.conf.

I uninstalled the Samsung unified driver (they provide a ppa) and the
second conf file disappeared.

Currently the device is well recognized and the printer works fine (using Samsung SCX-3200 driver).
But the scanner does not work.

$ sudo sane-find-scanner -q
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04e8 [Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.], product=0x344f [SCX-3400 Series]) at libusb:001:002

$ scanimage -L
device `xerox_mfp:libusb:001:002' is a Samsung Samsung SCX-3400 Series multi-function peripheral

$ scanimage
scanimage: no SANE devices found
