If I run this from the shell:

thunderbird -compose
"to='john@xxxxxxxxxxx,kathy@xxxxxxxxxxx',cc='britney@xxxxxxxxxxx',subject='dinner',body='How
about dinner tonight?',attachment='/home/liuk/test.txt'"

as in the example on the Thunderbird website
(http://kb.mozillazine.org/Command_line_arguments_%28Thunderbird%29) , a
new window with the right fields filled and with the attachment is
opened, so it seems more a LibreOffice issue which is not invoking
Thunderbird with correct parameters.

Tested on :
lsb_release -sd
Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS

thunderbird -v
Thunderbird 31.6.0

  "Send document as Open Document Text" fails to attach doc when using
  Thunderbird

Bug description:
  1. Ensure Thunderbird is installed and open.
  2. Choose "File/Send Document as Open Document Text..."
  3. A Thunderbird window with a new email appears. The subject is that of the document's file name, but no document is attached.

  I verified the document was really not attached by sending the email.
  The email arrived without any attachments.

  This problem can be worked around by accessing
  "Tools/Options/Internet/E-mail" and changing "E-mail program" to
  "thunderbird". After making this change, the document is seen attached
  in the Thunderbird window.

  Previously, the e-mail program was given as "sensible-lomua". I have
  no such program on my system.
