Title:
gnome-volume-control : master volume slider behavior is
confusing/unclear
Status in “gnome-media” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-media
Hi there,
I have switched from 9.04 to 10.10 and am trying to get used to the
new way of adjusting sound volume, since the old mixer panel has
disappeared, now replaced the full blown sound preferences GUI. I am
having problem with the mast control at the top of the GUI. It's not
quite clear how it works. When I set the volume to the max using the
panel applet, the slider in the preferences GUI only goes maybe two
thirds to the right (the non-functioning % indicator doesn't help
figure things out...). It seems (I assume ?) this slider can somehow
how amplify and go above 100%, but it would save headaches and
confusion if this was made visually obvious from the start.
