[Bug 1456678] [NEW] Display refresh issue

Public bug reported:

Laptop and external display do not always refresh properly, typically
leaving previous content when switching desktops or when changing window
focus. Other times not all the content is rendered until the cursor is
swiped through this region or a window is selected, revealing the actual
content.
