Title:
  [oneric][nvidia][dell vostro 1710] black screen on 1st resolution
  change or resume

Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  if i change the resolution of the screen with the either the nvidia or
  ubuntu display settings tools the first time i get a black screen , if
  i then wait for the timeout to expire it comes back (its a bit messy
  but it settles) and then i can change resolution without incident
  untill i reboot.  I get the same result when resuming after a suspend
  and i think this could be related.
