Title:
  Purple screen of death for minutes

Status in gdm package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  natty 11.04 amd64 edition

  Normal bootup: After 35 seconds with shell output (gdm noquiet) the
  system reach a shell login, i can login there as root or user but no
  graphical gdm appears. I can look around inside several minutes, then
  suddenly the purple screen of death appears and displays the login
  window.

  Minimal bootup: After the second line "loading initial ramdisk" the
  system does nothinh for several minutes. I have to wait up to 5min
  before the selection menu appears on the screen.

  Characteristics: In the waitstaite nothing happens with the machine,
  the cpu is idle, no harddisk led is blinking. I disabled usb legacy
  support in bios and pulled out every external hardware without
  success.
