Message #131131
[Bug 1483257] [NEW] Huawei E3372 (& other hilink dongles?) cannot be used for connecting to the internet
Public bug reported:
I have Huawei E3372 which works directly when I plug it in Windows 10,
but on Ubuntu I cannot use it for connecting to the internet. It's light
is cyan which means it's connected to 4G network, but it does nothing.
It appears in lsusb: `Bus 001 Device 003: ID 12d1:1f01 Huawei
Technologies Co., Ltd. E353/E3131 (Mass storage mode)`
And it also appears in ifconfig:
```
lxcbr0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr FILTERED
inet addr:10.0.3.1 Bcast:0.0.0.0 Mask:255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: fe80::FILTERED/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:58 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:8993 (8.9 KB)
```
I also don't understand where the address 10.0.3.1 comes from as in
Windows the control panel was in 192.168.8.1 or something like it.
I also found another bug report,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1424181 but I don't
think this is a dupicate as from the title it looks like it doesn't
appear in lsusb and that bug has expired. This package also seems to
have bug reports for other dongles.
