Huawei E3372 (& other hilink dongles?) cannot be used for connecting
  to the internet

Status in usb-modeswitch package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I have Huawei E3372 which works directly when I plug it in Windows 10,
but on Ubuntu I cannot use it for connecting to the internet. It's
light is cyan which means it's connected to 4G network, but it does

It appears in lsusb: `Bus 001 Device 003: ID 12d1:1f01 Huawei
Technologies Co., Ltd. E353/E3131 (Mass storage mode)`

And it also appears in ifconfig:

  lxcbr0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr FILTERED
            inet addr: Bcast: Mask:
            inet6 addr: fe80::FILTERED/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
            RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
            TX packets:58 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
            collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
            RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:8993 (8.9 KB)

I also don't understand where the address comes from as in
Windows the control panel was in or something like it.

I also found another bug report,
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1424181 but I
don't think this is a dupicate as from the title it looks like it
doesn't appear in lsusb and that bug has expired. This package also
seems to have bug reports for other dongles.
