Message #142834
[Bug 1497545] Re: archive manager changes file manager default settings to show hidden files
Right, that's a confusing case. You can change it from the preferences
dialog but that's not obvious
That particular issue has been resolved Ubuntu with that change
https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=2e1ac987268cd57349cdc2763d2442b532ce3c49
Now toggling the settings is changing the stored preference as well. We
are going to look at landing this change in Ubuntu next cycle

Title:
archive manager changes file manager default settings to show hidden
files
Status in file-roller package in Ubuntu:
Fix Committed
Bug description:
Ubuntu 15.04
file-roller 3.14.2-0ubuntu5
Reproduce:
Open an archive and click extract. In the directory browser press Ctrl+H to show hidden folders. Cancel and close archive manager.
Expected:
This should have no effect on the file browser in general after archive manager is closed.
Actual outcome:
Hidden files and folders are shown by default every time a file manager window is opened.
Workaround:
Same as reproduce, this time press Ctrl+H to hide hidden folders. The setting applies to file manager.
