Thanks for the report, Jan.

Do you reproduce on one/several of 12.04, 14.04, 15.04 and 15.10?

Also, this may be a duplicate of

Title:
XMPP account can't login: "not authorized"

Status in pidgin package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
For several months I use Pidgin (now 2.10.1) successfully under
Windows. Recently I copied the profile folder ("purple") to my Ubuntu
11.10 computer which has Pidgin 2.10.0-0ubuntu2 and surprisingly I
can't login to my XMPP account on that machine. Pidgin tells me 'not
authorized' (Nicht autorisiert) even though the very same account
profile still works under Windows! I verified the password several
times and it's correct. Afterwards on Ubuntu I removed the account and
added a new XMPP account with the same and verified credentials but
still the same problem. Attached is the debug.
